Advance Security's HR Director is Industry Inspiration

Advance Security’s Karen Rogers received recognition at the Security Excellence Awards as being an inspirational HR individual.

Judge Peter French of lead sponsor SSR Personnel honoured the HR professional with a ‘highly commended’ certificate, impressed by the strength of Karen’s award submission, which highlighted her determination in driving home the importance of strategic HR initiatives across Advance, as well as the wider security industry in her role with the BSIA HR Forum.

Said Advance Security’s Managing Director, Richard Bailey:

“In the ten years that Karen has been with Advance she’s worked hard to integrate HR with Advance’s wider business operations. Her success has been such that the discipline is now seen as being fundamental to the motivation, loyalty and development of our nearly 4,000 strong workforce. Furthermore, Karen’s approach continues to have an important impact on the bottom line. We’ve had notably fewer tribunal cases over recent years due to the water tight nature of the policies she has put in place and the internal training received by Advance’s managers on the ground, which have both had an obvious upshot in terms of cost savings for the business.”

A champion of internal training, Karen has developed a number of programmes to ensure Advance’s staff are at the vanguard of the industry when it comes to keeping ahead of the latest legislation and procedures. She has also spearheaded Advance’s diversity policy and her unique ethos in highlighting the difference between ‘diversity’ and ‘equal opportunities’ has been recognised at an industry level and brought to the fore through her continued involvement with the BSIA HR Forum.

Her ambition now is for the strong HR ethic at Advance and the BSIA to be adopted across the security industry and service industries in general.
