If someone had told me I’d be carrying out my new role as CEO of Cordant from the confines of a national lockdown I wouldn’t have taken the idea seriously – but here we are, and what an eye-opener it has been.
I was honoured to accept the role of CEO on the 20th of March but never did I imagine that 3 days later Boris would announce the UK’s lockdown measures. If ever there was a test of adaptability… this was it!
If you’d have asked me 2 months ago if the business would successfully respond to the circumstances we find ourselves in today… I wouldn’t have been confident. We’re a people-led organisation; we recruit, service, manage, secure and maintain… we’re customer-facing, not ‘customer-distancing’.
But, we’re now six weeks in and never have I been more proud to be at the helm of an organisation. I have been blown away by the resilience, commitment and professionalism of the internal teams and client partners I have the pleasure of working with – it is a testament to the strength of stakeholder relationships.
I’ve taken some real learnings from my colleagues and industry peers – watching them as they become more agile and respond to a new way of working. I now see a future where things are done differently, so over the coming weeks, I will be sharing my thoughts and observations on better ways of doing business in a post Covid world.
Watch the video for an overview of the topics I will be covering in the coming weeks.
I really want business owners to think about the opportunities that present themselves, I know I am. Some of the topics I will be exploring include; the environment, new technology, big data, meaningful service, better collaboration, work-life balance and upskilling in the face of automation.
So watch this space and join the conversation.
